| Welcome to the website of Psalterium, a company which was founded as an artistic and concert agency in 2001. From 2002 onwards, our main activity was administration of St. Nicholas Church in the Lesser Town, which included ensuring its operation, organisation of tours for individuals and groups of tourists, provision of guide services and tourist information both to foreign clients and also visitors from the Czech Republic, production of public and private concerts, holding of which was and still is one of the core activities of Psalterium. From the very start of our work in St. Nicholas Church, we have also held special masses for various occasions in cooperation with various parishes, as well as other social events of a clerical nature for the inhabitants of Prague and foreign visitors. So for example, together with the exarchate of the Greek Catholic Church in the Czech Republic, celebrations to commemorate Translation of the Relics of St. Nicholas were held regularly every year in the church. The St. Nicholas celebrations held since 2002 have met with a great public acceptance, with a celebratory church service on the festival date and party with presents on the Eve of St. Nicholas’ Day, which the children of the Lesser Town and its wider surrounding area have always looked forward to. After ten years of successful work in this church, the Archbishopric of Prague decided, in terms of written thanks in its capacity as the owner of the church, to no longer continue to use the services of our company in terms of administration of the church, stating that the activities ensured by us until that time would be assumed by them and ensured by their own employees in a newly established department. Quote from the letter sent by the Archbishopric of Prague: “It is also thanks to your efforts that this important national cultural monument has become one of the most important buildings for visitors to Prague. We do however intensively perceive the potential role which this church could play in the pastoral activities of the Archbishopric of Prague. We make no secret of the fact that sufficient emphasis on this form of use was not made by us in the past. We believe that closer alignment with pastoral activities will in the future best be ensured by change to organisation of operation of the church. In its capacity as the owner, the Archbishopric of Prague has decided to adopt this role directly. Despite this, it is not our interest to completely change the activities which are now familiar there and we firmly believe that it will be possible to maintain most of the programmes which currently run there.” From the very beginning of its existence, Psalterium has specialised in production of concerts and agency activities. Over the ten years of our work in St. Nicholas Church, we have organised hundreds of public concerts and private concerts prepared to suit specific customer requirements, in terms of which our overriding objective is always adherence to their high artistic quality with regards to quality of the programme, as well as level of performance. We cooperate with leading Czech artists and ensembles and draw up customised programmes for our clients with a view to their specific requirements in such a way that they are accessible to the audience, but also musically and spiritually enriching. We hold all types of cultural and social events, concerts, presentations and conferences, not only in historical buildings in Prague, but also in other, sometimes non-traditional, premises, which in combination with beautiful music, offer the visitor a unique cultural and spiritual experience. We are able to ensure comprehensive incoming services and deal in choral tourism, in terms of which we provide services not only to foreign artists who want to perform with their concert programme in public musical productions. We ensure the actual production as well as the whole stay including the performance. Thanks to many years of activity in one of the largest travel agencies and experience gained in terms of active tourism, we cooperate with leading entities in this field, participate in important conferences, are in constant contact with travel agencies and tour guides and utilise their knowledge to constantly improve our work. We are also expanding our services to include operation of a gallery and information centre in the Galerie Michalská branch, where apart from provision of tourist information to visitors to Prague and its inhabitants, it is also possible to buy tickets for cultural performances and you will also find here a small gallery with devotional articles and other goods of an artistic nature which are available to buy. The first decade of our company’s activity is ending and a new one lies ahead with new goals, enriched by the very valuable experience we have gained of work with churches, and we believe that this decade will be just as successful as the previous one.
